Following close to one year of hard work, the NATIONAL CAPITAL JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE, is a reality.
The league falls under the umbrella of the ODHA and Hockey Canada.
The league is made up of eight Junior Teams based in Ontario and Quebec. Split in two divisions, they will play all teams throughout the season but will be ranked divisionally. The teams:
West division
Rockland "Nationals"
"Les Prédateurs" de la Pêche
"Vikings" de Papineauville
"L'Express" de Gatineau
East division
Embrun "Panthers"
Cumberland "Bandits"
"Les Aigles" de St-Isidore
"Cougars" de Vankleek Hil
Interested players should visit the league web site for information on team conditioning camps and other pre-season activities at www.ncjhl.com , click on links, select a team to view their co-ordinates and other information. Some teams may require pre registration.
League Executives are very optimistic with the overall interest and dedication from the teams who have all contributed in reaching this goal. "Everyone involved in the eight teams management groups and the league executives put in a lot of time and participated in several long meetings to be where we are today. We had to keep in mind the league's mission, to allow graduating minor hockey players to continue their hockey aspirations while encouraging all age bracket players the opportunity to also continue developing their hockey and inter-personal skills". This is the shared feeling of everyone involved in the league.
The league's season opener will be a "Showcase" format held in Rockland on Saturday September 25th 2010 where all teams can be seen as four games will be played that day. More details to follow soon.
Want to be part of competitive and fast hockey. Come out for the Showcase and then follow your team all season long.
