2013 OHL Gold Cup

The Ottawa District Hockey Association U17 Team captured the 2013 OHL Gold Cup title Sunday afternoon with a 6-2 victory over Greater Toronto Hockey League Royal at Sportsworld Arena in Kitchener.
Oshawa Generals prospect Ian Johnston scored two goals including the game-winner and added an assist for the ODHA in the Championship Final finishing the OHL Gold Cup as top scorer with 12 points in five games.
Barrie Colts prospect Adrian Carbonara opened the scoring for GTHL Royal midway through the first period.
Mississauga Steelheads prospect Neil Doef put the ODHA on the board less than six minutes later before Soo Greyhounds prospect Zach Senyshyn gave ODHA the lead in the final minute of the opening frame.
The ODHA put two more goals on the board in the second period starting with Johnston at 7:01 and followed by Ethan MacLean who finished the game with two points. Eric Eremita netted the GTHL's second goal of the game on the power play at 15:11.
Ottawa 67's prospect Brandon Zullo scored a third period goal and finished the contest with two points, as did fellow 67's prospect Ben Fanjoy. Kingston Frontenacs prospect Kris Myllari also recorded two assists.
Bo Taylor made 23 saves in the win.
SPORT CHEK HOCKEY CANADA SKILLS COMBINE TO VISIT FIVE CANADIAN CITIES THIS SPRING
CALGARY, Alta. – This spring, the Sport Chek Hockey Canada Skills Combine will visit five Canadian cities, allowing young players to gauge their skills in a fun and challenging environment. The combine, which is open to rep-level minor hockey players, will include both on-ice and off-ice testing, and features guest speakers.

Players will be tested using the Hockey Canada National Skills Testing and Standards program. The tests include a 100-foot dash forwards and backwards, agility weave skating, agility transition skating, figure-eight stickhandling, forehand and backhand passing, and shooting accuracy. The tests can be done throughout the season to measure a player’s improvement over time.

Off-ice tests will be done using the Nike SPARQ Testing program. The tests, designed by Nike, are sport specific and developed for hockey. Participants will be able to use their results to generate their SPARQ testing rating at the combine.

Camp Information:
The Metro/Valley Conference of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League together with Capital Sports Management Inc. are pleased to announce the 1st EOJHL Metro Valley Prospects Camp to take place at the Bell Sensplex in Ottawa, Ontario June 1-2, 2013.
This is an excellent opportunity for mature, skilled players to gain exposure to CCHL coaches, scouts and general managers and a unique opportunity for team representatives to accurately assess a player's overall abilities.
This camp is open to AAA, AA, A & Rep B players born between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1997.
Cost of the camp is just $219 per player and include 4 games, seminar, league jersey and socks.
Goaltenders:
ALL goalie registrations will be not be “officially approved” for participation in this camp until the selection committee has reviewed all applications and made their selections.
Acceptance into the camp is not guaranteed as all applications are subject to review.

On Tuesday night at Earl Armstrong Arena, the Ottawa Jr. 67s AAA Hockey Club, along with Dr. Levy, Medical Officer of Health, announced a new tobacco-free policy for their club. A tobacco-free policy reduces tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke, can serve as a motivator for quitting smoking, and creates positive tobacco-free role models.
Dr. Levy also presented Junior 67’s Triple-A Hockey Club President, Mike Ennis a Smoke-Free Champion award for his leadership in promoting health and wellness to Ottawa youth.

Chevrolet Hockey Helmet Program - as we get prepared for another hockey season, the Chevrolet Hockey Helmet Program has officially launched for 12-13 Season, which will provide every 5 year old player (Born in 2007) that registers with a Hockey Canada Member Branch/Association a FREE Bauer hockey helmet.
